Hollywood Stars in Cancer Care Event

A number of Hollywood artists like George Clooney, Will Smith and Gwyneth Paltrow will take part in Stand Up to Cancer event in September. Event of this cancer care will be aired on various television stations in the United States.

In addition to those three stars, the other celebrities joined them in between, Denzel Washington, Renee Zellweger, Kathy Bates and Richard Branson. This event will also be enlivened by the appearance of Green Day frontman, Billie Joe Armstrong, Neil Diamond, The Edg, Herbie Hancok, Lady Antebellum and Leona Lewis.

Vice originator of the event Stand Up to Cancer, Laura Ziskin who is also executive producer of this event was a cancer patient who successfully battling cancer. She will ask the star to ask viewers, with the question “are you going to stay with us?”.

“Every donation no matter how small will help scientists one step closer to the research for a cure,” said Ziskin.

Stand Up to Cancer will air on September 10 at 20:00. Television channel which will broadcast, among others, ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC.

JK Rowling donates USD 138 Billion for the Clinic

Author JK Rowling has donated money for 10 million pounds to establish a treatment and research clinic patients ‘multiple sclerosis’, a disease that attacks the brain and has taken the lives of his mother.

Author’s of Harry Potter is hoping the clinic will be a center of research experts in the field of regenerative neurology. He said “Anne Rowling Regenerative Neurology Clinic” will be located at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.

Lindsay Lohan Sentenced to Jail (again)

A Beverly Hills judge Tuesday sentenced Lindsay Lohan to 90 days in jail for repeatedly violating the terms of her probation, ignoring the actress’ tearful pleas for one more chance.

Beverly Hills judge Marsha Revel declared the 24-year-old starlet in violation of probation for her 2007 DUI conviction for failing to attend court-ordered alcohol education classes. Revel sentenced Lohan to 90 days in jail followed by 90 days in-patient rehab.

“There were a number of instances of [Lohan] not taking things seriously,” Revel said. “It’s like someone who cheats but doesn’t think it’s cheating if they don’t get caught.”

Lohan is scheduled to surrender to authorities July 20 and will be housed at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, in a wing that is separate from the rest of the jail population.

She is expected to serve only a fraction of the 90 days because of severe jail overcrowding.

This will be Lohan’s second time in jail. She spent 84 minutes in prison in 2007 after she pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of being under the influence of cocaine and no contest to two counts of driving with a blood-alcohol level above 0.08 percent and one count of reckless driving.

2007 was also the year of two very public arrests for Lohan. She was sentenced to three years of probation but requested a one-year extension in October after failing to complete her alcohol-education courses on time.

Things didn’t get better for Lohan outside the courtroom. According to TMZ.com, the company Tough As Nails served her with civil lawsuit papers in a court house elevator. Lohan is being sued by Church, a store owned by Tough As Nails, for failing to pay for more than $17,000 worth of clothing and accessories.

Lindsay Lohan (born July 2, 1986) is an American actress, model and pop singer-songwriter. She began her career as a child fashion model before making her motion picture debut in Disney’s 1998 remake of The Parent Trap at the age of 11.

Paris Hilton was Arrested by South African Court

A South African court has dropped drugs charges against Paris Hilton. She was arrested in Port Elizabeth after World Cup 2010 match when the Netherlands’ defeat of Brazil (2-1) in the quarter-finals of the tournament. She appeared at a special court on Friday evening.

A friend of Ms Hilton with her at the stadium was found guilty of marijuana possession, her publicist said.

Ms Hilton’s friend was sentenced to pay a fine or spend 30 days in jail, it was reported.

Ms Hilton appeared in the court wearing a beige dress and a glittery necklace with her hair in two ponytails, a reporter said.

Her publicist told the Reuters news agency that she had been questioned by police but no charges had been brought.

“I can confirm that the incident was a complete misunderstanding and it was actually another person in the group who did it. The case has been dropped against Paris and no charges will be made,” Paris Hilton’s spokeswoman said.

After her release she posted a note on the social networking site Twitter saying: “I was assisting the police with the investigation and answering their questions.”

Paris Hilton is the great-granddaughter of the founder of the Hilton hotel chain. In 2007 a US court sentenced her to 45 days in prison for drunk and reckless driving. After serving 25 days in jail she told US talk show host Larry King that she had re-evaluated her life and wanted to do more charity work and less partying.
